Flat Renovation

Dalgety Street

21 Aug 2007

When I first visited the flat at Dalgety Street what struck me immediately was its back to front arrangement. The bedroom had fabulous views and evening sunlight and the living room had no view to speak of and morning sun. Swapping sleeping and living around also allowed me to rationalise the bathroom and kitchen by accessing the latter from the living room. This also meant that the most used part of the flat became one space opening up to the view and the evening sun. The kitchen and bathroom are designed as a new piece of furniture which appears to have been inserted into a single space. This idea is further reinforced by glazing to the splashback and above the wall units, also admitting daylight into the now internal bathroom.
